Anne Treffeison Lyon (59) passed away on September 1 at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro surrounded by her children and brother. A Celebration of her life will be held at Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church on Friday, September 8 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends after the service at a reception in the Parish Hall.
Anne was born on March 31, 1958 in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Richard and Betty Treffeison. She was a 1976 graduate of Chapel Hill High School and a 1980 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill. She remained an avid Carolina fan.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Clark Lyon. She is survived by her children Sarah Marie Lyon and Hunter Clark Lyon, her brother, Philip Treffeison and his wife Doris Treffeison, niece and nephew Elsa and Eric Treffeison, and four legged children Asher and Luna.
For the last fifteen years Anne worked at Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church. She was a devoted member of the Onslow Literacy Council and was active in the Cursillo Community. She sang in the church choir, played handbells and was an everyday do-gooder.
Anne loved her friends, her pets, and the beach. She was always up for an adventure whether it be Disney World, a cross country trip, a concert, or simply an evening of bunco. No animal was without a home once they met Anne.
Anne had a sweet spirit and a kind heart. She never met a stranger. Her effervescent smile will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carolina Animal Protection Society (CAPS), the Onslow Literacy Council or Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church.

Celebrating the life of Anne T. Lyon
Thank you for signing Anne T. Lyon's Guestbook
Sarah and Hunter. Your mom is the one who told me, on behalf of the choir, that I should become a Deacon. I laughed. Later she was on my discernment committee at St. Anne's and a constant support throughout. On the day of my ordination she walked in ahead of me carrying the St. Anne's banner. I will be forever grateful for her life and ministry. She adored and admired you both!! May she rest in peace and rise in glory and be an inspiration to us all.
