JACKSONVILLE - It is with great sadness that the family of Francis G. “Jerry” Leone announces his passing after a brief illness at the age of 82. He died on July 5, 2018 in his home and under the wonderful care of hospice with his children by his side. Jerry will forever be in the hearts of his children, Beth Leone Noble and Tony Leone, their mother, Cheryl Leone, an amazing and close-knit family from his beautiful western Pennsylvania and by countless friends who were so positively impacted by this generous man.
Jerry was an American patriot and retired from his beloved Marine Corps in 1974 after twenty years of service. He did two tours on the drill field at Parris Island and two tours in Vietnam. Among his many commendations, he was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, the Combat Action ribbon and the Republic of Viet Nam Cross of Gallantry which is awarded in recognition of deeds of valor or heroic conduct while in combat with the enemy.
Despite his deep love for his friends, family and the Corps, the true apple of his eye was his granddaughter, Parker Noble. She sang the Marine Corps Hymn to him shortly before he passed.
There will be a military honors service at the Coastal Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 2:00PM. All who knew and loved him are welcomed to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Community Home Care & Hospice in Swansboro, North Carolina who made his passing a beautiful experience for his family.

Celebrating the life of Francis G. "Jerry" Leone SSgt (Retired)
Thank you for signing Francis G. "Jerry" Leone SSgt (Retired)'s Guestbook
Cheryl, Beth & Tony. Dorie and I are so sorry for your loss. Jerry was such a nice guy, always upbeat and positive. He was truly generous and caring, especially when he volunteered for a second tour in Vietnam in place of his brother. There aren't many like him. We are sorry we can't attend his memorial service as we are out of town for the summer.

Jerry may have been referred as my brother-in-law but was truly my big brother. I wrote to him during his time in Vietnam & he always answered. He was funny, rough around the edges, but was a wonderful man. He will be missed...my heartfelt condolences to Cheryl, Beth, & Tony.
