James Wesley Chase, 82, of Maysville, died peacefully at 7:45pm on March 6, 2018 surrounded by his family at Carolina East Medical Center.
A committal service for family and friends will be 2 pm, Friday, March 9, 2018 at Onslow Memorial Park, with Reverend Matthew Wesley Lee officiating.
James (Dude to many) was born on February 8, 1936 in Trenton, North Carolina to the late Paul and Laura Chase. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Ella Ree Chase. James is also survived by his two daughters Charlotte Humphrey and Nancy Lee, husband Jackie Lee. He is survived by 5 grandchildren: Marsha Argue, Kimberly Smith, Wesley Lee, Michael Evans and Samuel Evans. He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Douglas Mack Chase of South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his two brothers Rudolph and Jimmy Chase and one sister Stella Baysden.
James had a long career in furniture sales working for Mills and Thomas and then forming a partnership with James Hill, opening Chase & Hill’s Furniture Store. After furniture sales, James farmed and co-owned Ella’s Professional Cleaning Service.
James was a great friend to many, a devoted father to his two daughters and a wonderful provider to the love of his life, Ella. He will be missed greatly, but as a family we find comfort in knowing he is with the Lord, sitting at the Master’s table feasting.
The family will receive family and friends following the committal at 166 Maready Road, Jacksonville (Nancy’s home).
