Obituary

Max Eugene Cribelar, Master Sergeant, USMC (Ret) 90, died Friday, November 10, 2017 at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held at Jones Funeral Home Monday, November, 13th 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Larry Haggard officiating. Burial, with full Military Honors will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 10:00 am.
Mr. Cribelar was born on September 18, 1927, in Casey, IL, and grew up in that area and was the son of the late, Nollie L and Cora Smith Cribelar, of Fairfield, IL, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Cribelar of Henderson TX. After, his retirement he became a resident of Jacksonville.
Mr. Cribelar was a Veteran of World War II, Korea and South Vietnam, in addition to his service in the USMC, he had prior service in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Master Sergeant Cribelar was with the First Marine Division, assigned as a Radio Operator with the First Battalion, Fifth Marine Regiment. He was assigned to a Tactical Air Control Party, calling in Close Air Support while the Division was at the Chosin Reservoir Area. Mr. Cribelar held a disability rating of 100%, due to severe frost-bite to his feet, hands and ears, and other internal injuries that would show up in the later years of his life. MSgt. Cribelar was recognized by the Marine Corps Base Military Retiree Council, Marine Corps Base Commander, Col. Adele E Hodges, along with others who had participated in the three Wars, with the “Hard Core Warrior” Award for participating in the three wars.
Mr. Max is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jeanne Harrison Cribelar of the home; two daughters, Linda Jeanne Cribelar (Leibnitz) and Karen C. Baysden (David) all of Jacksonville, NC: three brothers, John J. Cribelar of Springfield, IL., Donald D. Cribelar ofLong Island NY and Robert L. Cribelar of Fairfield IL; three granddaughters, Leia Maestas, of Jacksonville, NC, Lisa Taft (Eric) of St. Cloud, FL and Gwen Cleveland of Lander WY; seven great- grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 16, at 300 Sherwood Rd., Jacksonville NC 28540, in memory of MSGT Mac Cribelar, USMC (Ret), and to The Carolina Animal Protection Society, 213 Maplehurst Dr., Jacksonville NC 28546.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville NC.
