Dorothy Hardison Cernoch, 90 of Sneads Ferry, passed away Sunday afternoon at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, 08/10/17 at the Faith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on Blue Creek Road at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jamie Silance officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Sneads Ferry.
She moved to Sneads Ferry in 1944 with her family where she remained for the rest of her life. She worked for the MCCS aboard Camp Lejeune for 48 years.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Donna and husband, Roy Prescott of Sneads Ferry; son, Larry Doncaster of the home; brothers, Harold Hardison and wife, Virginia of Sneads Ferry and Joe Hardison and wife, Hazel of Vandemere; sisters, Virginia Ayers and husband, Rodney of Culpeper, VA, Patricia Godsey and husband, Lewis of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Geraldine Hardison of Sneads Ferry; grandchildren, Kim and husband, Timmy Parker of Sneads Ferry, Amanda and Jamie Silance of Haws Run, Roy Prescott, Jr. of Sneads Ferry and Jacob and wife, Tanya Prescott of Sneads Ferry, great-grandchildren, Erann Prescott, Melanie Parker, Adam Parker, Brittany Silance, Marissa Silance, Courtney Mae Silance, Allison Prescott, Julianna Grace Prescott, Roy Melvin Prescott III, Isabella Prescott, Landon Prescott, Carson Prescott, and Raegan Prescott; and great-great-grandchild, Jeremiah Prescott, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Kirby and Grace Hardison, and her sister Bertha Harper.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 PM at the Faith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on Blue Creek Road. Family and friends are welcome to visit other times at Larry’s residence in Snead’s Ferry.

Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. May you find comfort in the everlasting promise of life once again. Our Heavenly Father has lovingly made provisions for our dear loved ones to live again during the resurrection. What joy we will have to welcome them back to perfect life on a beautiful "new" earth.
