SNEADS FERRY - Donna Anita Kvale, 65, of Sneads Ferry, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 after an extended illness at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Salem Baptist Church.
Donna was employed by Pender County Schools and loved her job as their Preschool Health Care Coordinator. The little ones she worked with and her coworkers always brought a smile to her face.
Donna was a devoted wife of 33 years, a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed baking with her grandchildren during the holidays and taking family vacations with those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Kautter; grandson, Matthew Eyster; and brother, Donald Chagnon.
Survivors include a large loving family that include her husband, Dennis Kvale; mother, Lorraine Kautter; her children, Tina Mcsparrin, Cindy Patane (Jeff), Howard Luckenbaugh (Melanie) and Christa Hamilton (Brandon). Donna was the oldest of eleven children and is survived by sisters, Debbie Thaggard (John), Denise Thompson (Dennis), Diane Spence (Damon) and Colleen Lathrop (Fred). Her surviving brothers are Dennis Chagnon, Donnie Kautter (Angie), Dion Kautter (Teresa), Kevin Kautter and Keith Kautter.
Additionally, Donna is survived by twelve grandchildren that were the apples of her eye.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sneads Ferry’s Hope; an organization she has poured great effort into and is near and dear to her heart. (www.sneadsferryshope.com)
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel and also at the home of her daughter, Cindy Patane , 958 Mill Creek Rd. Hampstead, NC.

Please accept my warmest condolences for your loss. May the joyous memories of Donna help you to get through each day. And know that our heavenly Father, the "God of all comfort", is right there to listen (2 Corinthians 1:4; Psalm 55:22). Oh Ms. Donna how I and my Children will miss you. When I brought my Grandkids to register them for Preschool how Helpful and Kind you were to us. Not only did you help us you went above and beyond to make sure we were ok in those first few confusing days of school. May you rest in peace, you will be greatly missed. We Love you Ms. Donna. Words cannot express the sadness this brings. Memories of Donna goes way back in the years when she managed the Dairy Queen at Camp Lejeune. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family during this difficult time.
