Dorothy Johnson Lane, 89, of Jacksonville, NC passed away on Thursday, July 13 at Davis Community in Porters Neck, NC. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, July 21 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Jacksonville NC at 2:00 p.m.
Born in Rose Hill, NC on March 26, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Braxton Fletcher and Janie Carlton Johnson. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Dalton Lane, and two brothers, Braxton Fletcher Johnson, Jr and Carson Carlton Johnson.
Dorothy Lane is survived by two daughters, Sharon Lane Carter and husband Michael of Jacksonville, Sarah Dee Lane Poole of Raleigh, one son, Marks Carlton Lane of Raleigh, five grandchildren, Jennifer Carter Houston and husband Jason of Richlands, Richard Michael Carter of Jacksonville, James Gregory Poole, IV, Sarah Lane Poole, and John Braxton Poole all of Raleigh, three great grandchildren, Dylan Carter and Curran Carter both of Jacksonville and Andrew Houston of Richlands, one sister, Cora Jane Johnson Bostic of Warsaw NC plus many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

I was saddened to read of Mrs. Lane's passing. She was my seventh grade teacher at Jacksonville Junior High, and I thought the world of her. Sending condolences to her family. Joanne Simmons Smith, Chattanooga, TN
