SNEADS FERRY - Glover Gray Thompson, A.K.A. Papa, was born February 11, 1942. He passed peacefully at home at the age of 75, on Monday, May 8, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday at Jones Funeral Home, JACKSONVILLE Chapel. Entombment will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.
Glover was a lifelong resident of Sneads Ferry. Through the years, Glover worked at the Daily News, owned and operated Community Sanitation of Sneads Ferry, and “Your Way” Housing Mobile Home Sales.
He was preceded in death by his parents of Sneads Ferry, Waldo Thompson and Josie Hill Thompson.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, June Carolyn Davis Thompson of the home; his children, Pam Shepard of Sneads Ferry and Jody Thompson and his wife, Melissa of Sneads Ferry; one sister, Wilda Greer of Sneads Ferry; five grandchildren, Brian Thompson (Nikki Thompson), Gabby Shepard (Jessica Shepard), Cakki Shepard, Josie Thompson and Austin Thompson; and four great-grandchildren, Hadley Thompson, Jasper Shepard, Weston Thompson and Chevelle Shepard.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 PM at Jones Funeral Home, HOLLY RIDGE Chapel.
Glover’s favorite saying…..”I’m Gone”.

We are so sorry for your loss....Glover was always there for my family.. I just spoke with my Dad, Donald Earl, he is so upset about this. He was reminiscing about the company Oyster roast and Christmas parties.. I had to get him strolling down memory lane, because he was very emotional, Glover has always meant a lot to him. He will definitely be missed, and the many ways he was there for our family will never be forgotten...
